The casks are made from oak from the Ozard Forest in Missouri (USA). These trees are up to 200 years old. GPS is used to find the trunks. The forest is cultivated in a way to ensure a sustainable growth rate. Only American white oak are used for the casks. The trunks are cleaved in pieces of one metre. Afterwards these pieces are cut to staves and then weathered for 48 months. The staves are then assembled to form the base of the casks. To be able to bend the staves, the casks are heated. The lower sides of the casks are formed by a tackle. Afterwards the inner side of the cask is "toasted" by fire. Because of this "toasting", the distillate is enriched by vanilla and caramel aromas during maturation.
